Chris Guthrie

Hello My Name Is...

Chris Guthrie

Mr. Guthrie’s Educational Path

Elementary School:

Hales Corners Lutheran School  (Hales Corners, WI)

I wanted to be a PILOT when I grew up.

Middle/Intermediate School:

Hales Corners Lutheran School  (Hales Corners, WI)

I still wanted to be a PILOT when I grew up.

High School:

Martin Luther High School (Greendale, WI) - Class of 1998

I decided I wanted to become a LAWYER, so I became president of the student council.  I was also a part of National Honor Society, band, choir, and I played baseball and soccer.

Post Secondary Path:

I wanted to become a LAWYER, so I attended The University of Wisconsin - Madison.  I graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology.

I wanted to explore the world and give back to others so I joined the UNITED STATES PEACE CORPS.  I lived in the country of Mozambique in southern Africa for two and a half years where I served as an English foreign language TEACHER.

After serving in the Peace Corps, I decided that I wanted to be a SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER so I completed a Master of Science in Exceptional Education at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in 2008.

The 2014-2015 school year was my first year at Glen Hills.  Prior to that I taught at Brookfield East High School for five years and at John Burroughs Middle School in Milwaukee for five years.

A Message From Mr. Guthrie

I am very excited to be your teacher this year!  My goal as a teacher is to not only help you learn the material you need for this year, but also help you learn how to be a good student in future years and, most importantly, a life-long learner.  I look forward to all of the successes, moments of inspiration, and “ah-ha’s” this year has in store!
