2018-19 Inspiration in Teaching Award
Posted on 04/10/2019

It is that time again... time to nominate teachers for the Glendale-River Hills School District Inspiration and Excellence in Teaching Award.  Every two years the district honors a teacher for inspirational and effective teaching.

This award:

  • Recognizes outstanding Glendale-River Hills School District teachers.
  • Honors creative, inspirational and effective teaching.
  • Involves the community in celebrating teaching excellence.

Dr. Dan Oren, a former Glendale-River Hills student who was in the first graduating class of Glen Hills, contacted the District wishing to recognize the influence of Phil Bufton and Karen Schrage, retired Glendale-River Hills teachers who have made a difference in his life.  In their honor, he has established the “Phil Bufton and Karen Schrage Inspiration in Teaching Award” to encourage and support current Glendale-River Hills teachers to carry on dedication to creatively engaging students in learning.  The recipient of the award receives an award certificate and a cash award.  The recipient is chosen from nominations received from teachers, students, parents and alumni.
